Andrew N. Davis, Ph.D., Esq.

Andrew N. Davis, Ph.D., Esq. is a partner and Chair of Shipman & Goodwin LLP’s Environmental Practice Group, is a member of the firm’s seven-person Management Committee and also serves as Co-Chair of the firm’s Committee on Diversity and Inclusion. He counsels clients in transactional, permitting, compliance and enforcement matters under federal and state health and safety, hazardous waste, air and water pollution, site development and property transfer laws. With his advanced degrees in marine science, he has developed an international reputation in the area of oil spills and natural resource damages, representing some of the world's largest shipping companies and their insurers in several marine casualty events throughout the United States and in international waters. He is also the lead author of the “Oil Pollution Act” chapter of the Environmental Law Handbook published by Bernan Press. Andrew also practices in the area of climate change, providing strategic advice to insurance and energy clients regarding potential risks and opportunities associated with global warming.

Dr. Davis is also an adjunct professor of environmental science, law and policy at Connecticut College and is a Fellow at the Goodwin-Niering Center for the Environment.
